Join the Fight Against Crap

07Oct07

I spent 20 minutes this afternoon putting together a little counterviral media in response to those damn annoying Macy’s gift card ads everyone’s Myspace account gets hijacked to repost:

Check out that link (there are two other design variations and code for posting) and use these!

My new hero: Man gets probation for secret apartment at mall

06Oct07

The leader of an artists’ cooperative has been sentenced to probation for setting up a secret apartment inside a shopping mall’s parking garage as part of a project on mall life.

Michael Townsend, 36, said he and seven other artists built the 750-square-foot apartment beginning in 2003 and lived there for up to three weeks at a time.

The artists built a cinderblock wall and nondescript utility door to keep the loft hidden from the outside world.

I was not a very good blogger this tour. Oh well. Next tour! Gotta say though:

  • Lots of pictures over at the flickr; I’ll post some more once I’m home (later tonight).
  • Non-stop flights are now a must
  • I do have a long recap and a long list of people to thank in the works.. but for now: it was crazy, and everyone who helped is fucking golden

Big things in Bloomington this year, and some more touring is for sure in the cards as well. 2007 is well past half over, gotta make the Indian Summer and all the rest count.

Also, RAD SUMMER (it’s not a threat, it’s a promise!) is going to transform from a tour into a bunch of other awesome things, keep those eyes peeled..

Gettin LA’d

22Jul07

I’m not gonna lie, LA is soooooo much driving and sooooooo many jerkz! But these are only the people who we randomly encounter on the street or like bulldozing into me while trying to navigate the club. Everyone we’ve actually met, totally rad. Like italics and bold totally rad. Scope this complimentary lunch at an OC hippie mall:

And here’s us being way less psyched looking than we actually are

We’re playing the Daft Punk afterhours party tonight the TTL folks are setting up, which is kind of amazing given the surreal, nonsensical, and quite possibly impossible to listen to interview we did for their radio show yesterday. Like I said, good peeps. Good peeps.

(not vegan!)

We made it!

18Jul07

To the start of tour, that is. I spent all of the past two days clearing up my driver’s license so I can rent a vehicle out here in LA to drive up to Seattle, and finally got that done just in time to catch my flight. Got the car, drove it to the place I’m staying at, and promptly got towed the next morning for blocking someone’s driveway. I really don’t think I was blocking it but here’s what the windshield looked like when we I got it back from the impound lot:

Asshole Fuck! Assh ole fuck?

lookin sexy, vimeo dot com!

03Jul07

When I was about to post that last Bloomingfoods entry, I noticed the rainy day video I’d posted previously looked a little different. Subsequently I decided to check out Vimeo and see if there were any other new design elements going on, and it looks like they’ve done a huge overhaul! Vimeo already had one of the more pleasant web 2.0 designs going, and this new one seems leaps and bounds beyond where they were at before. They’ve taken the rounded corner interface popularized by companies like Apple, and made it personal and homey. Much more attractive than other Youtube alternatives like Veoh or Stage6.

Aside from the design being kind of beautiful, it’s a pretty well-designed service. And really the only video site I know of that only allows user-created content, which creates a really great video library of content which for the most part can’t be found anywhere else. Take a look!

Finally, something worth celebrating on July 4th!

BLOOMINGFOODS CO-OP GRAND OPENING TOMORROW!
2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE!
AAAAAAHHHYYAAAAAYY!

Hehe. blink.

But no, really, I biked past ten minutes ago and the place was stocked full of food. Even fresh sandwiches and bread and what such. I then purchased some celebratory gas station food for what will hopefully be the last time in a long time. Goodbye overpriced crappy food, hello overpriced wonderful food!
