The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

What an amazing film. It’s great and all to see a US Border Patrol agent get some comeuppance. But it’s not only that—it’s much more about accountability and responsibility than revenge or vengeance. It’s epic, and it’s really beautiful. It takes maybe 20 minutes to get going but the rest of the movie is poetry. Corpse hauling, snake biting, nose-breaking poetry. Very high recommendations; this probably goes along with Unforgiven and Brokeback Mountain as my favorite Westerns ever.
