My two primary web development platforms, Drupal and Wordpress placed at #1 and #3 in the publishing category of the Webware 100. It’s nice to know that the web.. tool.. voting.. community? seems to agree that these are the two of the most robust and useful web platforms around. Congrats to the development teams!
Flash placed at #2, which I don’t develop in, but do use and deploy in projects (mostly for media playback) on a regular basis. Given where Flash’s predecessor’s were once seen most commonly—I’m thinking now of clunky CD-ROM games and the interactive part of music CDs—it’s really matured a whole, whole lot. Now that we’re all (mostly) on fast internet connections, Flash is finally really useful as the preferred platform for media sharing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a salty on entirely Flash-driven sites (soooooo 2002, right?), but now I don’t hesitate at all in deploying Flash media players, whereas a couple years ago I would have opted for straight downloads or Quicktime.
