I’m feeling compelled to post some music, as these couple of tracks here are rather infectious and I think the only way I’ll get over them is by getting upset that they’ve become oversaturated in the collective listening pool. So, here goes:
First we have Yelle, hailing from Brittany, France. I guess there’s some sort of “electrocrunk” scene going on in France right now? Which seems to be basically a more musically-adept version of what Peaches and her ilk have been doing for some time now. The song I can’t stop listening to, Short Dick Cuizi, is a dis on fellow French music dude Cuizinier, who apparently put out a misogynistic mixtape and got these lyrics in response (the song is in French, translated to English here for yours and my high and mighty english-speaking imperialist scum convenience):
Cuizinier with your little sex surrounded with red hairs
I can’t believe you can believe someone may want you
I don’t believe it even in the dark, even if you keep your pyjamas
Even if you keep your dressing gown in a shape of kitsch tee
Keep your shirt this will limit damages bastaaaard..
..Cuizinier it’s you that I want to see
That I want to see tonight
Being ridiculed by a girl that raps better than you
I don’t have enough of my 10 fingers to count them in the hall
All those girls hair-dressed like me that know what you’re worth when naked.
Seems to flow a little better in French. Anyways! The other item here I don’t really have as much to say about. Gnarls Barkley. All the rage in the UK right now. And all over the internets. I am definitely late on this one. I’d heard the track “Crazy” on mix tapes for awhile now and just recently decided to google the lyrics and find out who it was. This is the current project of Danger Mouse, who masterminded the Grey Album awhile back. And Cee-Lo. The whole album is allright, but this one song, fuck.. it’s really what a modern Miles Davis would sound like.
Listen:
Yelle - Short Dick Cuizi (mp3)
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (stream)

I love Yelle’s ‘Short Dick Cuizi’. It is kickass. Gnarls Barkley’s only good song (to me at least) is ‘Crazy’… a one hit wonder. (if you can call it that..)
Truth!
